Stuart Cole Dubbo BoomsOut on the open plains of central western NSW, Stuart Cole at Dubbo Booms and Scissor Lifts has created an enviable market for his general access hire business. Genie has played a leading role in the success with a range of scissor lifts and Genie Trax machines in the fleet.

The latest addition is Genie’s Z135/70 boom lift. To introduce this Genie boom into the Dubbo Booms fleet, Stuart retired a competitive brand boom as being too difficult to operate.

“The Z135/70 is easy to operate and position exactly where it is needed,” Stuart Cole said.“The added benefit is that the Genie reaches a further 3m higher than the unit that I traded.”

“Our very first hire with the new Genie was into the mines for two weeks. I know the market and I know that there is plenty of work for the Z135/70 amongst my customers.”

Genie articulating Z™-booms provide the ultimate in versatility with up, out and over positioning capabilities for hard-to-access work areas. The working height of the Genie Z135/70 is 43.15m with a horizontal reach of 21.26m.

As a relatively young access hire company, Stuart Cole’s core business was diversified in crane, concrete pumping and over-size transport. While retaining his existing fleet of equipment, Stuart saw an opportunity seven years ago and acquired two scissor lifts and two boom lifts to service a growing market.

“I only had one competitor back then and they have since sold out to a national brand,” Stuart said.“My customers prefer to deal with a local because they want to support a local, just like themselves. And of course I have to have the right equipment and customer support services.”

Today with a fleet of 36 units in the access hire fleet, Dubbo Booms and Scissor Lifts is servicing a market within a 300km radius of Dubbo. The customer base includes the mining sector and civil works plus all the trades with a need for height access such as telecommunications towers, silos, painters and so on.

In addition to the new Genie Z135/70, Stuart has also enjoyed great success with the Genie S65 Trax telescopic booms.
“These are on regular hire to the RTA for work in river and creek beds where normal equipment becomes bogged. I bought my first Trax three years ago and because of the reliability and performance, I’ve since added two more".
